A (VERY) Grand Total

December 16th, 2008

Hey everyone,

A few months ago we founded this little NPO of ours, based off a simple statement: “Who will? WE will.”

Then we posed an even simpler question:

Well friends, the Feast has been over for about a month now, and with all the donations finally tallied, we are proud to announce just how resiliently you’ve answered the call. Our grand total in donations this year was…..

…..wait for it……….

………wait for it………..

………….$7,757.05!!!

Is that INSANE or what?! We have raised enough to literally feed the entire orphanage for a YEAR AND A HALF. And we owe it all to you. So on behalf of Who Will We Will, thank you everyone. To those who donated, to those who came to the Feast, to those who cared and gave generously at a time when we’re all hurting in the pocketbooks, to show that anyone in this world can make a difference with the simplest (yet profoundest) of gestures. Thank you.

Expect pics and updates from our children in Cambodia to follow in the coming months. And don’t fret if you didn’t get your donation in on time. We’re ALWAYS accepting contributions on our donation page HERE.

Our first official event may be over, but Who Will We Will has only just begun.

Thanks again,

Aaron, Bryan, Carly and Hannah

Special thanks to Bern McGovern for putting together this little ditty.

Success.

November 18th, 2008

Hi everyone,

We’d just like to take a quick moment to announce that this year’s FEAST fundraiser was a total success! Last Saturday, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the music was flowing…and the ashes were falling. Luckily the fires didn’t find their way to Woodley Park, but many of you did, and at the end of the day, good times were had by all (see- charity can be fun!). We would like to take a moment to say a very special Thank You to FAB’s Corner Cucina, Carolyn Schultz, Party Pals, Trig Ink, Andy Horwitz, Paul Gilmartin, DJ Kane Fortune, Crystal Visions, Carrie and John Richards, and all of our volunteers for dedicating their time and resources to make this year’s Feast the biggest and best one yet. How big was it?
While donations are still rolling in, we’re proud to announce that we’ve already raised over $6000.00. 10 very needy children in Cambodia are about to receive some wonderful news, and that my friends, is the difference you have made.
The primary goal of our little organization is to demonstrate that literally anyone (for example, 4 broke-ass twenty-somethings) can get involved in a charitable cause and make a huge impact in the lives of those less fortunate. And we’re pleased to announce that everyone who attended or donated did just that! With each $20 donation, you were able to feed an entire orphanage for 2 days.
So thanks again, to all of you who donated and/or made it out, and for those of you who couldn’t, its never too late! Head on over to www.WhoWillWeWill.org/news/donations and contribute anytime. Thanks for reading everyone, we’ll see you at the next one!

All Sorts of Updates

November 1st, 2008

Distribute THIS!

Distribute THIS!

Hey guys…

All sorts of great stuff happening right now as the Feast rapidly approaches (T minus 2 weeks and counting!). First up and most important, we’ve finally found a food sponsor. A very special thanks to Fab’s of Sherman Oaks, who will be providing us copious amounts of their delicious gourmet Italian food.

We’ve been amassing an awesome array of items for our silent auction. For all you tweeners out there we got a beautiful Les Paul guitar signed by…wait for it…the Jonas Brothers!

We’ve also lined up a psychic named Lisa Mitchell of Crystal Visions, who will be coming to the Feast to give you all some crazy predictions about your future. Our prediction? This thing is going to a BLAST.

Once again the donate button is below, feel free to pre-purchase your Meal Tickets now, or if you arent able to attend, we’d greatly appreciate any donation you can offer.

Donate Now!

October 20th, 2008

Hey everyone,

We’re stoked to announce that we’ve finally gotten a donation button set up at our website, which you can find here:

You can head on over now and reserve your “Meal Tickets” in advance. This year, we’re asking for a min. $20 donation from all ATTENDEES. If you are unable to attend, any kind of donation would still be much, much appreciated. But before we go any further, allow us to explain where 100% of your money will go this year…

…Last year, I was fortunate enough to travel Cambodia. It was an amazing experience, but despite the warm smiles and wonderful hospitality of its people, I was heartbroken with what I saw. Extreme poverty, disease, and a nation still recovering from the effects of a brutal genocide that ‘ended’ nearly 30 years ago. The work-force consisted, believe it or not, of mostly children. In fact, 52% of Cambodian kids aged 7-14 work twenty or more hours a week. These children don’t get a chance to go to school, or learn the skills to obtain quality employment in the future. Worse still, they must give all money earned to their parents. These are the “lucky” ones; other children are simply abandoned altogether by parents unable to care for them.

We at Who Will We Will realize that its impossible for our small group to impact the country as a whole, but, it is entirely possible to impact the lives of a small group of children directly. With this in mind, we’ve chosen to raise money for a small orphanage that, with our help, has the chance to become something much more. A dear friend of ours, Georgie Walsh, has spent the last few years volunteering at various orphanages and organizations in Cambodia. Now, with the help of other like-minded souls, she has founded ‘Who Will’ (where we derived our name), an organization that is currently raising funds to build an amazing new orphanage and school. The Children’s Village will be a safe haven that will positively impact the lives of countless Cambodian children. Initial construction has begun on the first housing unit, but in the meantime, Who Will has rented a small house and have taken in 10 children off the streets. With your help, we can hopefully raise enough money to fund their operation for a long time.

The kids at Who Will. Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Your dollars will go very far in Cambodia. At current, it costs only $70 to feed all 10 children for an entire week! Imagine that. With your $20 donation, you can feed the entire orphanage for 2 days! And we’ll give you unlimited food and fun while you’re doing it!

So please, whether you can attend this year or not, head on over to our site, www.WhoWillWeWill.com to donate now. PayPal and all major credit cards are accepted. Once we see your name on our site, your ticket will be automatically reserved. For those of you who cannot attend…ANY amount of money is welcome; even $1 really will make a difference. Ahh yes, and all your donations will be completely tax deductible!

If you’d like to send a check instead, you can make it out to ‘Who Will We Will’ and mail it to:

1330 Barrington Ave #3, Los Angeles, CA 90025.

Thanks so much for reading, and please, feel free to share this with anyone you’d like! We hope to see you there.

October 13th, 2008

Hey guys,

So we’re going to be throwing a silent auction, as preveiously mentioned. Want a chance to contribute something? We’d LOVE to accept it! A silent auction is our absolute best bet to raise the maximum amount of money for our kids in Cambodia. So if you know of anyone who owns a business, that’d like to contribute something (gift certificates, jewelry, autographs, etc.) or if you personally would simply like to donate your services, just let us know! Either strike back in the comments section below or email us at WhoWillWeWill@gmail.com. Thanks, hope to see you all there.
