We need a location. So far the best option we have is Griffith Park, but its crazy expensive. When all is said and done it’ll be well over 700 smackeroos. Add that to the cost of everything we’ll be bringing TO the park and its just too much. Afterall, the point is to minimize costs so that we can maximize the donation amount we can give to the orphanage.
So, if you think you may be able to help, if you know of a place we can hold this bonanza, someplace big, can hold a few hundred, that’s not too fragile (and preferably outdoors), then, let us know, asap. You can drop a comment on here or shoot us emails at AaronHorwitz@gmail.com or BryanBHW@gmail.com. Thanks!

Hey all,
Just wanted to drop a quick line to say the first of many thank YOU’s to those who’ve responded and are willing and wanting to join the cause and help plan what is looking to become an increasingly more and more massive event. All help is welcome and much appreciated, as I’m quickly realizing we’ve never planned an event anywhere NEAR this magnitude so it’s going to be quite an undertaking. I’m going to keep running updates on everything and anything that happens, right here on this blog. And I’ll be emailing you all who’ve volunteered to help soon to let you know how you can join in.
Or, if there’s a certain field you wanna specialize in, let me know and its yours!
So thanks again all, and stay tuned…
And if you’re new to the site, check out the post below.

“The true meaning of life is to plant a tree under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”
Ladies and gentlemen…start your engines. Something big is coming. Something new. And it starts…now. We’re off and running. Plans for the 3rd annual Feast are underway. And this time around, the sh-t is gettin’ REAL. We’re talkin’ last year’s Feast…times ten. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Lets backup. This first blog is for everyone, but mainly its for you newcomers. You first-timers. This is our mission statement, our rallying cry, our personal invitation to you, the reader. Let me explain who we are. Actually, let me explain WHAT we are.
We are the men [and woman] behind The Feast– a yearly event we started waaaaay back in 2006 (when gas was “cheap” at around $2.50 a gallon). In Year 1, we had a small dinner for our friends, about 20 of us. With the assistance (actually more like guidance) of our generous parents, we cooked up a massive holiday dinner, grabbed a few bottles of wine, and charged $10 a head to all attendees. We donated all the profits to Schools on Wheels, an LA-based charity organization. Sadly, after reimbursements for food costs, and because of the small guest count, we ended up with only about $100 to contribute to the cause. Hmm…how to remedy that?
The next year, in ’07, we did things a little differently. Again our parents provided their culinary talents, and again the event was hosted in a lovely living room in the Hollywood Hills. But this time, we upped the ‘buy-in’ to $15 a pop. We doubled the guest list. Ad we invited a kickass band to perform. We also changed the cause. This time, we wanted to give to a smaller organization. Somewhere our modest donation could stretch even further. We chose Lighthouse Orphanage. It’s a small little place outside Phnom Penh, Cambodia that houses 72 children that badly needed our help. I’m glad to say it was a success. We raised just over $1000– that’s enough to supply the entire orphanage with fruit and vegetables for an entire year. A smashing success, as the Brits say. But now, we want to do more. We don’t want to just donate to an orphanage anymore. We want to raise enough cash to help build one. (Ambitious, aren’t we?)
And so this year, things are going to be different. We want to be able to invite everyone. We want YOU there, and we want your friends there. We want an outdoor affair. But to do that, we need a bigger venue. A much bigger venue. So we’re going to have it at a park. We’re looking to secure one now (its not so easy, let me tell ya.) We’re going to have events. Activies. Music. And as always, some killer food.
To achieve all this, we’re going to need your help. This time, it cant be accomplished solely by our tiny crew. We need signs made. Food, drinks, tables, chairs donated. Volunteers to work at the feast (if you consider having the time of your life “work”). We’re going to hold a silent auction- got something to contribute? Any and all help is welcome. So if you have something to donate, or you wanna jump on the charity train and lend a hand, contact me at AaronHorwitz@gmail.com, or strike back in the comments section below.
With your help, we’re aiming to hold this baby in Mid-October.
Ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference. Who will? WE WILL! Will you?
What a difference a year makes…
